Why Political Roadblocks Threaten Home Health Care’s Biggest Policy in 2022

Since the start of 2022, there have been several policy concerns around home-based care. Home healthcare policies are considered timely and critical in the post-acute care industry; however, it seems in Washington D.C. that lawmakers do not see it that way.
Some of the home healthcare policies expressed are the extension of the Acute Hospital Care at Home waiver, adequate reimbursement for Telehealth, and the Choose Home Care Act.
“There is a level of gridlock and partisanship in Washington D.C. that has created a limited number of opportunities, which is disappointing,” William A. Dombi, president of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC), said during a Home Care 100-panel discussion earlier this month. “But I think we are extraordinarily well-positioned. And maybe in March, there will be opportunities for further legislation.”
